Penarth’s famous Victorian pier, which has just received major restoration funding for its wonderful pavilion, now features in a new documentary style film made to celebrate the final sailing of the MV Balmoral’s 60th anniversary year.
It is also a tribute to the ship’s enthusiastic band of volunteers from South Wales and the West Country without whose help she would find it almost impossible to keep sailing in the Bristol Channel during the summer
Around 400 Balmoral enthusiasts were waiting on Penarth Pier when Balmoral arrived for her last sailing of the summer season to Ilfracombe.
And now a few of them may even spot themselves in the ship crowd scenes shot for the film which has been made by former South Wales shipping journalist Nigel Heath and is on sale at the Washington Gallery in Penarth.
Those interested in the MV Balmoral will find more information about this wonderful little ship on Nigel’s website www.lifestoriesandmemories.co.uk |
